This figure takes into account the 10 most common household bills, which are: Mortgage; Rent; Auto Loan; Utilities (electric, gas, water & sewer, and waste & recycling); Auto Insurance; Cable & Internet & Phone, Health Insurance (consumer paid portion); Mobile Phone; Alarm & Security; and Life Insurance.
Nevada residents, overall, get a good deal on their bills: the state ranks 21st out of 50 states in terms of average monthly spending. Texas ranks 20th, with annual monthly expenses of $1,956, and North Dakota ranks 43rd, at $1,945.
Nevada’s household expenses, on average, are 2.9% lower than the national average of $1,945.

Housing bill category drives Nevada’s low monthly bill expenses
The average Nevada household pays $1,945 in the 10 most common household bills per month. Rent and mortgage expenses drive savings, with both being considerably lower than the national average. The average mortgage payment in Nevada is $1,345, and average rent is $1,112, compared to the national average mortgage bill of $1,368 and rent bill of $1,129.
Other than housing-related expenses, auto insurance bills are the most significant of the 10 most common bills for residents of Nevada. The average auto insurance bill in Nevada is $156 a month, compared to the national average of $196.
Compared to the national average, auto loans are also a notably higher expense for residents of Nevada. The average household in the state pays $481 a month for utilities, compared to the national average of $433.
Utilities, by contrast, is more affordable in Nevada. While US residents on average spend $328 per month on utility bills, in Nevada they spend just $275.

Henderson tops the list of most expensive cities for Nevada’s household bills
Residents of Henderson pay the highest household bills in the state of Nevada, at an average of $2,328 per month. Sparks comes second in the rankings, with residents paying $2,132 on average per month.
In proportion to household income, however, Henderson’s bills are costlier than ones in Sparks. While Henderson’s monthly bill basket makes up 40% of average household income there, Sparks’ bill basket accounts for just 39% of average household income in that area.

Out of 16 cities and towns, Fallon is the most affordable place in Nevada, with residents paying $1,266 on average for household bills. Household bills account for 29% of local income in Piedmont.
