Cortland Water Department Launches New Online Bill Pay for Residents
City of Cortland Water Department partners with doxo to provide residents a new online bill pay platform with zero-fee payment option. doxo’s cloud-based bill payment platform was selected for its customer service, best-in-class security software, and fee-free ACH payment option. The Cortland Water Department announced today a new way to pay for resident’s water bills. The new online pay options include debit cards, credit cards, ACH (bank account), and Apple Pay on any device, including smartphones (available on iOS App Store and Android Play Store for download). Residents will still be able to pay in person or by check.
Cortland’s central business district relies on residents’ support of local businesses. With a service area of over 18,000 residents, finding a payment provider equally focused on supporting Cortland’s community’s financial health was important.
Majority of third-party payment vendors require transactional fees for all online payment methods. Unnecessary expenses add up and can have a lasting impact, including reduced spending on nonessential goods at local businesses. Supporting local creates a pay-it-forward momentum and is a critical focus of the Downtown Revitalization initiative.

Online bill payment is now available through cortland.org. Residents can select “Online Pay” from the home page to access the online payment page with a “Pay Bill” button. New doxo users will be prompted to create an account through email. Already using doxo? Simply add the City of Cortland (NY) to your list of billers. Multiple payment options are available: credit card, debit card, ACH, and Apple Pay.
Payment methods are securely monitored and password protected. Residents will also have the option to set up one-click pay for recurring payments. Residents can schedule auto-payments, manage notifications, and view all online bill payment history.
